Around the world to the strength of its investment relationships and bilateral trade, America's economic growth is inextricably tied but if they fail to prepare the next generation to manage those relationships they will fall short of achieving full economic potential. In a globalized world with diverse economies and multilingual consumers in which the U.S and China will continue to be major players tomorrow's leaders must be able to thrive, work and compete. For careers in a workplace and world in which a consequential role is played by the countries bilateral ties they can prepare them by offering American students early education opportunities to learn Mandarin in Shanghai. In recent years by the growing number of American students we are encouraged who have started learning Mandarin in school. It was reported by the Education Department that after Spanish, the most wide-known dual-language education program was Mandarin. Still, if you are to equip our students to engage with the world's second-largest economy you have a lot of ground to make up with the necessary language tools. In the U.S there are only 200,000 K-12 Mandarin language learners enrolled in mandarin course in shanghai here while more than 300 million English-language learners are boasted of by China.
